Spring will Come!

“If winter comes, can spring be far behind?”

-Percy Bysshe Shelley

Many of us are ready for spring, especially after a long, cold winter. We anticipate the newness spring brings with colorful flowers, fresh grass, and singing birds. Similarly, the seasons of our lives leave us ready for the newness of “next.” We find ourselves ready for God to direct us quickly to the next thing over the horizon, from new careers or relationships to healings, babies, and more.

Sometimes the figurative “winter” in our lives can reflect the same harsh reality of a long, cold winter season. There’s an effect from the cold, rainy environment around us, with short days and long nights. Figuratively, we find ourselves tired and weary, and we earnestly pray for the sun to come out and for God to answer our prayers. We are ready for our new beginning now.

It’s in these moments that we must remember to trust God’s timing.

“He hath made every thing beautiful in his time: also he hath set the world in their heart, so that no man can find out the work that God maketh from beginning to the end.”

Ecclesiastes 3:11

We can’t hold God to our fast-paced lives, our understanding of what we need, or our personal timeframe. Sometimes the wait can bring discouragement or discontentment, and we have to rein in our minds. These are the times we must remember that His timing is His because He sees the full and complete picture that we cannot see. Waiting isn’t always easy; however, we can remain encouraged because our hope is in Him. We know He has good things in store for us because He promised.

“…all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose.”

Romans 8:28

He’s working all things together. God isn’t just working out one new job, or one relationship, or even just one healing or one miracle; He’s working out all things! These are the times we must hold on to the promises God gave us. Over and over, God reminds us that new and great things are coming, and He’s working on the unseen things below the surface.

“Behold I will do a new thing; now it shall spring forth; shall ye not know it? I will even make a way in the wilderness, and rivers in the desert.”

Isaiah 43:19

“Fear not, O land; be glad and rejoice: for the LORD will do great things.”

Joel 2:21

For it is God which worketh in you both to will and to do of his good pleasure.”

Philippians 2:13

God hears us and knows our desires. His Word promises new things and reminds us that He will work it all out until the end! Winter won’t last forever. He’ll renew, restore, and regenerate everything in your spring season. Hold on to the promises reminding you that your new beginning is right around the corner, too.
